Why An-Nisaa, and not Nisaa
Nisaa (نساء) is the base word. It refers to women in a general, in an undefined sense. It is open, abstract, and not directed at any specific group of women.
Just like adding “The”, a definite article before a word changes the definition of that word, giving it a more specific meaning, adding Alif-Lam (ال) in Arabic, shifts the definitiveness entirely. The noun becomes definite. It makes it specific.
The presence of Alif-Lam tells the reader or listener: these women are known, acknowledged, and addressed. They are no longer an vague group of women, instead they are specific and identifiable.
Pronunciation/Phonetics
Pronunciation reflects Arabic phonetics. The Lam (ل) join with the noon (ن) sound of Nisaa, resulting in An-Nisaa. Written, it is Al-Nisaa; spoken, it is An-Nisaa. Both words have the same meaning, regardless of their pronunciation.
This is the reason behind choosing “An-Nisaa” as our brand name. The focus is on a defined, intentional group of women. The choice was deliberate. It is not stylistic or decorative. It is precise. An-Nisaa exists as a defined identity, and that identity forms the foundation of our brand.
